I have a painting I wanted to get pounded by a winter storm that ended with a hard freeze at night. I wanted the water to penetrate deep into the grain of the wood, freeze, and fracture the layers.

Never got that. Spring sprung quick and wet. I'm down. Wild iris and amaryllis make good partners for creating art. It's been a year now since I was able to start painting again. The going is good.
These forest stones are the closest I am to finishing any of the works I started last spring. After the oils relax for a minute I think an afternoon sun bath in the upper 90's will be all it needs. Or maybe it needs another summer hanging out under the canopy of trees.
This spring's brisk and bright thunderstorms have been fabulous. I didn't have the slightest compunction to work on a happy hill for the longest until the thunderstorms started booming boom.

I figure that one or two more good thunderstorms will get a happy hill to where it needs to go get gone done.

I always love too how spring gets out the lazy. I've been procrastinating on the twins because, you know, they're a handful. Finally though I put on the retention barriers, poured in the layers, let them chill and then started to pull back the skin, one razor blade pull at a time on and out into the deeper hours.

Best art is living. I completed the first fertility sketch about 8 months ago and it's not long now our next baby girl will be here. I've started a large wood piece that will be an extension of the fertility sketches. It won't be a replication of the sketches because that image only really works on paper. I'm excited to figure out how the image will translate onto wood.

A year since I started painting again. A year since I quit smoking cigarettes. Crafting our house into a home.

Seeing again & more than before, even.

At the end of the day art is the light you see and what the light in your life plays upon.
